Don’t Round your burner fuel line nuts!!
Stop Rounding Your Aqua-Hot Fuel Line Nuts
Aqua-Hot owners, here’s a small tip that can save you a major headache later. Over the years, I’ve noticed something interesting when working on Aqua-Hot fuel lines. Aqua-Hot commonly recommends using a 7/16 wrench on the steel fuel line nuts. The problem is that a 7/16 wrench often fits a little loose. This makes it extremely difficult to remove fuel lines that
-haven’t been removed in years
-were overtightened during installation
-already have slight rounding on the corners
Once those nuts start rounding off, every future service becomes harder and harder.
The Better Fit: 11mm
I’ve found that an 11mm wrench fits these fuel line nuts noticeably tighter than a standard 7/16. That tighter fit helps:
- reduce slipping
-prevent rounded corners
-make stubborn fittings easier to remove
When servicing these fittings, I typically use:
-9/16 wrench to hold the brass fitting
-11mm wrench for the steel fuel line nut
That combination has worked much better for me over the years.
Why It Matters
Rounded fuel line nuts can quickly turn a simple service job into:
damaged fittings
fuel leaks
replacement line work
hours of frustration
A tighter-fitting wrench helps preserve the nut for future maintenance.
Final Tip
If the nut already feels tight or slightly rounded:
stop using the loose-fitting wrench
switch to an 11mm before the corners get destroyed
Don’t get your nuts stuck in the threads — use an 11mm.
